We started out with a big surprise we had been teasing her and K with for weeks. (more of that later) Once we were back home, we were joined by Poppa and Goppie for the more traditional bday festivities. B opted for a big cookie instead of a cake...yum. And her brother had so much fun singing and watching her blow out the candles, we had to duplicate it a little while later just for him. B was really excited with her load of books, webkins, and art books. (She is such a sweet kid.) She had specifically requested another book about dogs. She is determined to find the PERFECT dog so she can have one as her very own. Yikes. Not gonna happen. But the least I could do is get her a book...right?
B and her loot.
B's first drawing after reading through one her new books.
(I told you she was good.)
Little man blowing out "his" candles at the re-enactment.
He just loves this part.
And what was the big surprise we had been torturing our girls with for weeks upon weeks...?
Something they have never done, but have asked and begged for years.
You can see how excited B is when she realizes what we're doing.
K...not so much. :) LOL LOL
The surprise...FLYING! Cool, right?
The fam checking out their future fun.
B totally ready for take-off.
The girls flying the plane. Just kidding.
Do you see how excited this little face is?
The original plan didn't necessarily include the little guy, but once you see that kind of happy, you tend to rethink.
After his first flight. Happy and sweating.
Who can ask for more from the friendly skies?
B had a GREAT day! Aside from the flying (a BIG THANK YOU to D for being our organizer and pilot for the morning...you rock!!) and the family party, she was circled with love from friends and family as they called and/or sent cards. She smiled...all day.
And that is what a good bday is all about...those smiles. And even without the excess of presents and flying, the smiles came from all the love she felt. What 10-year-old shouldn't feel like they hung the moon on their special day?
